Part 2 (15 min) - English

Marcello: Vera how are you, good morning.
Vera: I'm fine Marcello good day, glad to speak with you.
M: Thank you! I was two weeks ago in Milan, I had the pleasure to meet you ( Coaching 4 you - Milan - November 15, 2009 ), and ask an interview and you were very kind.
You may speak freely about what is your business here in England please?
V: Yes, certainly. How well you've heard in my lecture, I teach through courses, positive thinking and I do this in England, America and even in Italy (as in one where we met). Often hold conferences regarding this matter and lead a school called Peiffer Foundation and our goal with the Peiffer Foundation is to make everyone able to actually have the means to help themselves.

So, you know, I thought it was very important that people make themselves familiar with concepts that parents can teach their children that they can use for themselves, to take trust, to make them feel better, manage their emotions. It's a bit 'as a course that addresses everyone's life every day and not only for people who have a degree in psychology. Everyone is capable of going to therapy, to have counseling sessions, but if you know strategies to help yourself, it's very useful because you can do something to feel better about yourself to increase your confidence, to find a job better, a better partner, you know, it often happens that some people find a partner from which they are respected, that is not what they expected, and this is because they lack self-confidence. Other people have fears, phobias, etc.. All these things can be overcome with positive thinking strategies. This is what I'm doing what I want to convey to people so they can learn these techniques so they can learn how to use them.
As you heard in the conference, I have a degree in psychology, different analytical and diplomas in hypnotherapy are also cinesiologa. I developed hypnotherapy in the past decade also using kinesiology. My main task here in Italy is to teach people, through seminars, positive thinking.
I write my books generally in English, because I live in England, but some books are written in German and most of these have been translated into Italian.
I noticed that Italians are very different from the English and Germans. They seem to be more open, they are much more in touch with their emotions and therefore more likely to work on them. You know, the Germans and the English course, retain more of what they hear, then, in a sense, are easier to work in Italy because people are more open, I do not know when I come to Italy I find some people to sing, no one sings in England, you know, I see while I'm in my lectures and maybe there is someone around who adjusts the microphone and sings as she does, and I think this is beautiful and I like it a lot. You know, this is a beautiful work and I feel like as I do.
M. Well, yes, I was very impressed about when explaining it to the subconscious mind, the day of the "Coaching 4 you" here in Milan, how it works and how it guides us in many "places" that we would never go completely. It's like autopilot ...
I saw your book " The Power of Positive Thinking "and this is a very interesting title because the thought that you automatically, you do it because it is already present within you now ... can you explain this please?
V. Yes, this concept has much to do with the subconscious mind, and the way I explained it, you know, we have two parties in the process, a part is the conscious or rational mind and the other part is that the subconscious and you know, sometimes we do not understand that reaction. Sometimes we, perhaps, feelings we do not understand, they seem rare. All these things come from the subconscious level. And that's what we have to do in the workshops of positive thinking. How can we access the subconscious level, so every thing is not working properly there, we can correct, improve, so ... I'll give you an example, someone is very scary cat, someone has phobia about cats. At a rational level that person knows that cats are usually harmless, maybe have a friend who has a cat very calm and adorable, that is not aggressive, you know, rationally understand that they have no reason to be afraid of these animals, but at subconsciously, they are unable to play the role that this cat is not aggressive. This is an example of how to rationally understand something, but you have a subconscious reaction that you can not understand or that block your ability to behave as it would like, then the cat gets close to you and that you are calm. So the question is "what is happening here, because this reaction?" Rationally you know that there are dangers, but subconsciously you are acting as if I were to be killed. But we know that no one will kill us or that nothing bad will happen to, but we have this reaction.
Here is where we can learn new posts to be able to access the subconscious mind, doing some relaxing exercises and then "feed" the mind with new information so that the reaction can change and turn into a reaction in a neutral or positive reaction. This is the ideal condition in which the rational mind and the subconscious mind work together and not contradict each other. The conscious mind usually says that cats are friendly and the subconscious mind usually says that cats are nice. Then I go and sit quiet and if the cat gets on me, I react with calm.
M. Right ... Vera, because the subconscious mind is more powerful than the rational one, why is it so?
V. Because most of the things that belong to us, are in the subconscious mind. Our emotions are subconscious, our autonomic nervous system that allows our body to function, as in this moment, are also functions subconscious, our memories are a subconscious level, our imaginations are at a subconscious level, so we many things that work on a subconscious level, and when I say I say even automatic subconscious. See while you're talking about at this time, your heart still beating, you're digesting your breakfast, the blood continues to circulate, and you must not think of doing any of these things, everything happens automatically. This is a task of the autonomic nervous system. While I'm talking about, you create pictures in your mind and this is done automatically because you are you're listening and remembering the topics covered in the conference, as rational and subconscious work together, etc.. So, this is automatic, and everything happens automatically is very powerful. I'm sure you've had experiences like that, your listeners have had such experiences, I've had the experiences these, as things are very, very powerful if they are automatic. So, if I see a piece of cake and I know rationally that I want to lose weight ... I know exactly what to do but, you know what? ... My hand takes a fork and it has already sunk into the cake and that is automatic. This means that I can not stop and it is more difficult to lose weight as well. Because it is automatic: "Oh ... I have to eat this cake! ... I should not be eating it but, you know, today I did a lot of work, I deserve this cake" ... and guess what happens? ... I go and eat the cake.
M. Yes, yes, it is quite a beautiful example. Many people want to do this, many women and men too, many people are trying to lose weight.
I received an e-mail today, a woman who can not sleep, she can not sleep and she asked me for help. I said, "Marcello, I can solve this problem? I want to fix it because my mind goes a thousand km / h ". His thoughts are continually working and she can not sleep, suffers from insomnia. The only thing that comes to take a sleeping pill to get to sleep. Because sometimes the mind does not stop?
V. This can have various causes. You need to look yourself if you can "turn off" your thoughts. Sometimes, when you've been very busy, when you've had a lot of work, this takes your mind to go out sightseeing, to a point where you can not stop it and more, even if you are very tired, can not sleep because your mind is very fast.
Now, there are many better ways to take sleeping pills to sleep, because these drugs have many side effects, you know, it's not ideal. But beyond that you must pay attention to other things. You must also pay attention to nutrition. If, for example if there is intolerance to flour, and many eat plenty of wheat during the day. The pasta, bread and things like that, especially if these things are eaten in the evening. This can disturb sleep.
There are also other factors, you know, for example if you have the cordless phone in your room, you have the electromagnetic fields in your room, you also get rid of this by disconnecting the TV from the outlet, thereby avoiding the appliances on standby. All these things can affect how you sleep (or not sleeping). I should know more details about this lady to say more accurately my opinion, but even these can, in a practical way to help.
Then, as you know, you can do with positive thinking relaxation, we have CDs that help you calm down, and this is a very good thing. A very simple thing to do is drink chamomile tea at night. This really helps to calm you down, three cups of chamomile, can help you reduce the amount of running thoughts in your head and this is what this lady could start doing.
M. Yes ... I know that your scope is broader than that to take care of a single problem. You work on people just to avoid people going to get worse, and it gets better. Not only to solve problems but to help us find the best way of doing things, because I know there's a better way of doing things.
I had a look at your books. Can you talk about your book "The Power of Positive Thinking"?
V. Ok ... this book "The Power of Positive Thinking" is something I started writing in 1987, and the way it came out thanks to a dear friend here in England. Actually she was my first teacher of hypnotherapy. She had at that time already written a few books, and she has a few years older than me and I was always fascinated me, you know, I was very impressed by the fact that she has already written books, had already started to sell them and I met him a couple of times a year to complete my degree with her. And I told him one day: "Look, I find it great that you have written all these books .." and she said, "Well, why not write a book too?", And I said, "Well, I do not know what I could write, "and she said:" Look, this publicity, they are looking for new authors, if you send your own proposal could possibly be interested, "and so I went home and I gave a look to one of the things on which I had already written and I thought that the positive thinking, because he had worked on me.
When I was 18 I had a breast lump, I went to the doctor and they have taken, I was discharged, and there were no problems and I was told it was nothing serious.
Some years later I had another lump in my breast but this time was very large, occupying almost half of my body and if this nodule had to be removed, I would have lost half of my breast, and this could really become a problem. At this point I said no to this opportunity and I told myself, "I will do something about it."
Before you go I will use some visualization. I just see to get rid of this, imagining that I put this nodule in a black bag (such as those used for trash), pulling it out of my body, every day, several times a day, I imagined that I pulled off my body with this envelope lump inside. And well ... fantastic!. I noticed the lump got smaller and smaller until it was completely gone. I went to the doctor just to be sure there was nothing there and I said "hey, this worked, this is a good thing."
Then I grasped the concept that using visualization and affirmations also specifically people can be helped to achieve their goals and that is why this book was created. It was published in 1998 and has had great success, I'm happy to say! Not only in England but also a great success in Germany and has been translated into 25 languages. Everyone can have similar experiences with the display.
M. Perfect!, You .. Ok ... the concept of visualization is what I would like to clarify here, because many people think that only imagining that they have something or who have recovered enough. I know that there is another important factor in view, namely, the ability to have feelings and feel them in your body. Vera is this correct?
V. Yes, of course, emotions are very important because if we have a trauma, emotions can heal us or keep us healthy. So, there are two aspects. We are dealing with feelings that come from the past and that are in our subconscious mind because every negative emotion has a direct effect on the entire body. There are many interesting books that talk about how these emotions cause physiological changes, such as when you're shocked by something.
These are the occasions when the therapist can do a good job, if anyone has had such an emotional trauma, they can help the body heal. On many occasions you can do it alone but, you know, when you suffered a great trauma, you need someone to hold you, and that is where a therapist can do a really good job.
M. Yes. this is really true ... Well, I explained in my site as I got rid of a big phobia. The fear of having a serious illness or surgery. The only listen to someone who had cancer or maybe the thought that I had that problem, it made me feel very bad that comes after fainting (seizure).
Now I can say to be healed, to keep my feelings and viewing. I fully confirm this because I personally lived the experience.
V. This is perfect. It is great if you can observe your feelings. Many people find this very hard. Maybe because many people grew up in places where, externalizing feelings is seen as something negative. It's a talent you have, if you can do this. It is very useful because they often lead us to a solution because you can say: "Ah ... I can feel this or that, why?" And then you can do something about it. If you are aware of your emotions, it is because you are aware of what is material subconscious. You can feel bad and maybe many people can take an antidepressant because, "I do not want to feel depressed" and then "go to the doctor and I do not prescribe anxiolytics to be sick." With this you are turning off some signals of the body, because that is what it is. Instead, your feelings are something which you should pay attention if you feel bad and it's obviously what you've done and then if you do this, it works very well, so I make you my compliments.
M. Thank you! Well, in my site I teach people to observe their own emotions to abandon the conditioned mind, so that our minds to guide us just where our mind wants us to go (accorgendoci after we arrived). These reactions were seizures that took my (now I remembered). The only listen to some woman who had breast cancer or someone had something bad in the stomach, made me fall to the ground, writhing his body tense. These (seizures) have been very strong for years, since I was a child.
I started to observe the first effects of these symptoms before and I started to notice that the jaw and the tongue is hardened. I put all my attention to these physical reactions, and this allowed me to get out.
Now, when I hear something before I hurt, I always feel smarter, not conditional.
True, let me know when you return to Italy for other seminars?
V. I hope to return next year in February to hold a two-day workshop, probably in Milan, I hope there will be very interested in people then we will meet again in February.
